Favourite Books Of 2012

Hey book nerds! :3 Happy New Years EVE! It's the last day of the year and I just wanted to say thank-you to all of the people who have started following me and have supported me since I started book blogging in September! ^.^ I love you guys. :3 I had a massive reading break before starting reading again in September, so I haven't read hundreds of books this year however I've read a wide variety of different ones. My journey of reading this year has been a great experience and I've tried to branch out in the genres I read. ^.^

There have been some books I've hated..alot! And wanted to smack...

Others, that I've really liked! :)

And of course, the ones that are incredible! So much so, that I'd actually do a little dance... :P

Today's post, of course, is going to be my favourite books of 2012. Not necessarily ones that were published this year, but ones I had the honour of reading this year! :D The books are in no particular order, they're all my favourites of the year and it doesn't mean I like one more than the other. ^.^ Have a great New Year and try not to party too hard! ;)

Favourites Of 2012

Title: The DUFF: Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend.
Author: Kody Keplinger.
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult.

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn't think she's the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She's also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her "the Duff," she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren't so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him. Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn't such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she's falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone. And eventually, through this realization, Bianca begins to see how harmful her unhealthy way of dealing with her problems has been, and finds a way to confront them head on.

Title: The Summoning.
Series: Darkest Powers, #1.
Author: Kelley Armstrong.
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult.

Chloe sees dead people. Her 'seemingly' crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for 'disturbed teens'. At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour.

Title: Flawed.
Author: Kate Avelynn.
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult.

Sarah O’Brien is alive because of the pact she and her brother made twelve years ago — James will protect her from their violent father if she promises to never leave him. For years, she’s watched James destroy his life to save hers. If all he asks for in return is her affection, she’ll give it freely.

Until, with a tiny kiss and a broken mind, he asks for more than she can give.
Sam Donavon has been James’ best friend — and the boy Sarah’s had a crush on — for as long as she can remember. As their forbidden relationship deepens, Sarah knows she’s in trouble. Quiet, serious Sam has decided he’s going to save her. Neither of them realizes James is far more unstable than her father ever was, or that he’s not about to let Sarah forget her half of the pact

Title: Delirium.
Series: Delirium, #1.
Author: Lauren Oliver.
Genres: Dystopia, Young Adult.

Lena Haloway is content in her safe, government-managed society. She feels (mostly) relaxed about the future in which her husband and career will be decided, and looks forward to turning 18, when she’ll be cured of deliria, a.k.a. love. She tries not to think about her mother’s suicide (her last words to Lena were a forbidden “I love you”) or the supposed “Invalid” community made up of the uncured just beyond her Portland, Maine, border. There’s no real point—she believes her government knows how to best protect its people, and should do so at any cost. But 95 days before her cure, Lena meets Alex, a confident and mysterious young man who makes her heart flutter and her skin turn red-hot. As their romance blossoms, Lena begins to doubt the intentions of those in power, and fears that her world will turn gray should she submit to the procedure.

Title: Dark Inside.
Series: Dark Inside, #1.
Author: Jeyn Roberts.
Genres: Post-Apocalyptic, Young Adult.

Since the beginning of mankind, civilizations have fallen: the Romans, the Greeks, the Aztecs...and now us. Huge earthquakes rock the world. Cities are destroyed. But something even more awful is happening: An ancient evil has been unleashed, and it's turning everyday people into hunters, killers, and crazies. This is the world Mason, Aries, Clementine, and Michael are living in--or rather, trying to survive. Each is fleeing unspeakable horror, from murderous chaos to brutal natural disasters, and each is traveling the same road in a world gone mad. Amid the throes of the apocalypse and clinging to love and meaning wherever it can be found, these four teens are on a journey into the heart of darkness--and to find each other and a place of safety.

Title: My Soul To Take.
Series: Soul Screamers, #1.
Author: Rachel Vincent.
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult.

Something is wrong with Kaylee Cavanaugh...

She can sense when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest boy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about the dark forces behind Kaylee's power than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason and only Kaylee knows who'll be next, she realises that finding a boyfriend is the least of her worries!

Friday Finds

Variant (Variant, #1) by Robison Wells.
Benson Fisher thought that a scholarship to Maxfield Academy would be the ticket out of his dead-end life. He was wrong. Now he's trapped in a school that's surrounded by a razor-wire fence. A school where video cameras monitor his every move. Where there are no adults. Where the kids have split into groups in order to survive. Where breaking the rules equals death. But when Benson stumbles upon the school's real secret, he realizes that playing by the rules could spell a fate worse than death, and that escape--his only real hope for survival--may be impossible.

Ashfall (Ashfall, #1) by Mike Mullin.
Many visitors to Yellowstone National Park don’t realize that the boiling hot springs and spraying geysers are caused by an underlying supervolcano, so large that the caldera can only be seen by plane or satellite. And by some scientific measurements, it could be overdue for an eruption. For Alex, being left alone for the weekend means having the freedom to play computer games and hang out with his friends without hassle from his mother. Then the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, plunging his hometown into a nightmare of darkness, ash, and violence. Alex begins a harrowing trek to seach for his family and finds help in Darla, a travel partner he meets along the way. Together they must find the strength and skills to survive and outlast an epic disaster.

What She Left Behind by Tracy Bilen.
“Don’t even think of leaving… I will find you,” he whispered. “Guaranteed.”
Sara and her mom have a plan to finally escape Sara’s abusive father. But when her mom doesn’t show up as expected, Sara’s terrified. Her father says that she’s on a business trip, but Sara knows he’s lying. Her mom is missing—and her dad had something to do with it. With each day that passes, Sara’s more on edge. Her friends know that something’s wrong, but she won’t endanger anyone else with her secret. And with her dad growing increasingly violent, Sara must figure out what happened to her mom before it’s too late…for them both.

The Unquiet by Jeannine Garsee.
Sixteen-year-old Rinn Jacobs has secrets: One, she’s bipolar. Two, she killed her grandmother. After a suicide attempt, and now her parents' separation, Rinn and her mom move from California to the rural Ohio town where her mother grew up. Back on her medications and hoping to stay well, Rinn settles into her new home, undaunted by the fact that the previous owner hanged herself in Rinn's bedroom. At school, her classmates believe the school pool is haunted by Annaliese, a girl who drowned there. But when a reckless séance goes awry, and terrible things start happening to her new friends—yet not to her—Rinn is determined to find out why she can’t be "touched" by Annaliese...or if Annaliese even exists.

With the help of Nate Brenner, the hunky “farmer boy” she’s rapidly falling for, Rinn devises a dangerous plan to uncover the truth. Soon reality and fantasy meld into one, till Rinn finds it nearly impossible to tell the difference. When a malevolent force threatens the lives of everyone she cares about--not to mention her own--she can't help wondering: who should she really be afraid of? Annaliese? Or herself?

Summaries from Good Reads. I'm so excited about all of these, I really want to get my hands on them. However they're all full price at the moment so I'll have to wait til they come down to a more reasonable price til I can purchase them. (I'm a cheap skate.) :P They all look incredible reads! I also love all their covers, they're kinda creepy and sinister, yet have an awesome edge to them. :3 My favourite cover has to be either; The Unquiet or Variant. :)

This novel looks like an amazing Contemporary read and I really can't wait til it's released! :3 I looks like the type of book I won't be able to put down til I've finished the entire thing. ^.^ There are so many amazing books that aren't out yet, as I say every week, I wish I could have them all! :P As for the cover, I think it's gorgeous. I love the fact that the typography dominates most of the cover, and the boy in the background is blurred compared to the girl. It's really cleverly done. (:

Review

I have to say, if any of you book lovers out there are deeply affected by very sensitive issues – then I’m sure this book isn’t for you. If however, you’re better at dealing with such subjects I highly recommend this novel - It was incredible. This story is definitely not light and fluffy - it really hurt me to read it at times. There was a constant pain in my chest, and as tears streamed from my eyes, it felt like my gut was being wrenched out. Am I being a bit dramatic? Maybe so, but this book is not for the faint-hearted. It’s not a book with happily ever-after and a Prince that saves the day. It shows a cruel and nasty reality that many people have to endure.

The novel is told by the main character, Sarah. Her family life is a sham; her dad’s an alcoholic and an ex-boxer. He takes his rage about his fallen career on Sarah, her elder brother James and their mother. This aggression has been going on for as long as Sarah can remember. James tries to take the majority of their father’s punches and blows – to protect his sister. Sarah’s mother is a no-go, no matter how many times she screamed for her mum, she was too busy ignoring her or away in a drug haze. The only person Sarah feels she can turn to is her brother, and is heavily and emotionally tied to James and the guilt that consumes her ties them even tighter together.

Around the time that Sam, James’s best friend and the guy Sarah’s had a crush on for the last 4 years, starts to show interest in her – James becomes unbearably jealous. His feelings of more than ‘brotherly love’ start to show, he wants her all to himself. Sarah however, has begun a relationship with Sam and is falling head-over-heels in love with him. He accepts her for who she is, knows her every flaw and is far-from repulsed by the many scars marring her body. He shows her what real happiness is like and fills a void that her brother has been so desperately trying to fill himself.

I loved Sarah’s character, even though she’s very with-drawn - there was so much depth to her. She was very relatable and as the book progresses, finds herself and what she really wants in life. The close relationship between her and her brother was enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It’s obvious she cares a great deal about him and feels a certain obligation to him for saving her all the time. They’re brother and sister, so that’s okay, right? Even so, their relationship is a very sensitive subject and very emotional.

James’ character I found very interesting, I disliked him a lot, but I also thought he was incredibly well developed and I think you’re supposed to feel some sort of anger and annoyance towards him. I feel that if James wasn’t the way he was – the book wouldn’t be nearly as incredible. Incest is more of a common thing than people realise, and in Sarah and James’ situation, with their complete dependence on each other – I wasn’t surprised that he found himself falling in love with his sister. Overall, James’ character is broken and complex. On one hand I wanted to fall to his side and patch up his wounds, and on the other; I wanted to slap him senseless. Talk about a love hate relationship, right?

As for Sam’s character; I loved him as well – he’s sweet, adorable and loving – what else can you ask for? I was a bit suspicious of his motives at first, his ‘sudden’ attraction to Sarah, seemed a little fishy. However, I’m glad to say I was wrong. The chemistry between Sarah and Sam is enough to set a house on fire, and it was incredible watching them grow together. Watching their relationship develop was one of the best parts of this novel and I was rooting for them from the very start.

When reading certain parts of this book – I wanted to hate it. I really did, but the force and emotion behind the writing in this novel made it impossible too. The end completely crushed and destroyed me. In some ways, I wish it were different – however, the book wouldn’t be as incredible if the ending didn’t happen the way it did either.

On multiple occasions throughout this book, I cried - a lot. I also wanted to tear my hair out and run screaming down the road from my frustration at being an emotional wreck. The story was so heart-wrenching and I really felt connected to the characters and their pain. The entire book was so dark and terrifying at times, yet I couldn’t put it down. I believe the 5/5 star rating was well-earned and doesn’t deserve anything less. I can’t wait to read more from Kate Avelynn, she’s such an incredible writer and I’d read anything else by her in a heart-beat.

Quotes

Comforting James drained all my strength, and now all I want is for Sam to hold me. I’ve always had my brother to help me figure out what I’m feeling, but maybe Sam can make sense of the dark thoughts twisting my mind—my anger, and the twinge of grief I’m feeling over my mother, father, and James. If he can’t, maybe he can make me forget. - Page 107.

I have no idea what he sees in me. Strength, he says. Beauty. A big heart. I see none of these things. I see fear, flaws, and a heart so full of blackness I can’t give up my own selfish wants to set him or my brother free. He’s given me a glimpse of what happiness should feel like, so maybe I should be grateful and move on. - Page 276.

"No, I love you. You've never loved me, even though it’s supposed to be me and you, forever.”
He reaches for my waist and buries his sticky face in my stomach. “Why can’t I be enough? I want to be enough so fucking bad." - Page 281.

Friday Finds #12

Friday finds is a meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading which showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list. Whether you found them online, in a bookstore, or in the library - wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

Hey book nerds! :3 How are you all? We survived the end of the world, once again! :P I bet all of you who believed it are feeling a little silly now. ^.^ I know I was going to wait til January to post my review of Flawed by Kate Avelynn, but I spoke to Entangled Publishing and they said I could post it whenever I wanted. SO, I may be uploading it soon, possibly this weekend, so keep an eye out for that. :3

Friday Finds

Trapped by Michael Northrop.
The day the blizzard started, no one knew that it was going to keep snowing for a week. That for those in its path, it would become not just a matter of keeping warm, but of staying alive. . . .
Scotty and his friends Pete and Jason are among the last seven kids at their high school waiting to get picked up that day, and they soon realize that no one is coming for them. Still, it doesn't seem so bad to spend the night at school, especially when distractingly hot Krista and Julie are sleeping just down the hall. But then the power goes out, then the heat. The pipes freeze, and the roof shudders. As the days add up, the snow piles higher, and the empty halls grow colder and darker, the mounting pressure forces a devastating decision. .

A Beautiful Dark (A Beautiful Dark, #1) by Jocelyn Davies.
On the night of Skye's seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites--like fire and ice--Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye's life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move--only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can't help falling for, and Devin, who she can't stay away from, the consequences of Skye's choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma.
Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives--and the way they understand each other so completely--has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.

Beta (Annex, #1) by Rachel Cohn.
Elysia is created in a laboratory, born as a sixteen-year-old girl, an empty vessel with no life experience to draw from. She is a Beta, an experimental model of a teenage clone. She was replicated from another teenage girl, who had to die in order for Elysia to exist. Elysia's purpose is to serve the inhabitants of Demesne, an island paradise for the wealthiest people on earth. Everything about Demesne is bio engineered for perfection. Even the air induces a strange, euphoric high, which only the island's workers--soulless clones like Elysia--are immune to. At first, Elysia's life is idyllic and pampered. But she soon sees that Demesne's human residents, who should want for nothing, yearn. But for what, exactly? She also comes to realise that beneath the island's flawless exterior, there is an under-current of discontent among Demesne's worker clones. She knows she is soulless and cannot feel and should not care--so why are overpowering sensations cloud-ing Elysia's mind?

If anyone discovers that Elysia isn't the unfeeling clone she must pretend to be, she will suffer a fate too terrible to imagine. When her one chance at happiness is ripped away with breathtaking cruelty, emotions she's always had but never understood are unleashed. As rage, terror, and desire threaten to overwhelm her, Elysia must find the will to survive.

Friday Finds #11

Friday finds is a meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading which showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list. Whether you found them online, in a bookstore, or in the library - wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

Hey book nerds! :3 How are you all doing today? ^.^ I'm doing okay, although I do have a bit of a sore throat. D: Apart from that I'm good though. What do you guys think of my new, festive layout?! :D It's so cheesy but I think it's really cute. xD I know it's not the most amazing layout, nor the most professionally done - but I'm awful at creating Holiday themed layouts - so I apologise! ^^;

Friday Finds

What's Left Of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1) by Kat Zhang.
Imagine that you have two minds, sharing one body. You and your other self are closer than twins, better than friends. You have known each other forever. Then imagine that people like you are hated and feared. That the government want to hunt you down and tear out your second soul, separating you from the person you love most in the world.
Now meet Eva and Addie.
They don’t have to imagine.

As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott.
Ava is welcomed home from the hospital by a doting mother, lively friends, and a crush finally beginning to show interest. There's only one problem: Ava can't remember any of them - and can't shake the eerie feeling that she's not who they say she is. Ava struggles to break through her amnesiac haze as she goes through the motions of high-school life, but the memories that surface take place in a very different world, where Ava and familiar-faced friends are under constant scrutiny and no one can be trusted. Ava doesn't know what to make of these visions, or of the boy who is at the centre of them all, until he reappears in her life and offers answers . . . but only in exchange for her trust.

Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti.
Best friends Lani and Erin couldn't be more different. Lani's reserved and thoughtful; Erin's bubbly and outgoing. Lani likes to do her own thing; Erin prefers an entourage. There's no possible way they could be interested in the same guy. So when Erin starts dating Jason, Lani can't believe she feels such a deep connection with him--and it may be mutual. The more Lani fights it, the more certain she feels that it's her fate to be with Jason. But what do you do when the love of your life is the one person you can't have?

The Forest Of Hands & Teeth (The Forest Of Hands & Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan.
In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?

Summaries from Good Reads. I love the covers for these books - they're gorgeous. Well, that's NOT including The Forest Of Hands & Teeth's cover, I really don't like that one - it's so boring. xD As for the books themselves, I think they all look incredible, I wish I could have them all now! The book I'm most excited about getting my hands on though, is What's Left Of Me. I'm really late adding this one to my TBR list, but oh well. ^.^ What do you think of my finds for this week? :3 I always love to hear your opinions. (:

Waiting On Wednesday: Crash by Lisa McMann

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Hey Book Nerds! :D How are you all doing? ^.^ My mum has finally caved and told me to move my TBR pile of books (that lives beside my bed) to inside my cupboard. ;_; She says it looks messy and my sister (who I share a room with) will end up knocking them over in her sleep if I'm not careful. ^^; So, unfortunately I'm going to have to move the teetering pile into my cupboard somehow. Oh well. :3 That's it for today!

Crash

Title: Crash.
Series: Visions, #1.
Author: Lisa McMann.
Expected Publication: January 8th, 2013.
Publisher: Simon Pulse.
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult.

Jules lives with her family above their restaurant, which means she smells like pizza most of the time and drives their double-meatball-shaped food truck to school. It’s not a recipe for popularity, but she can handle that. What she can’t handle is the recurring vision that haunts her. Over and over, Jules sees a careening truck hit a building and explode...and nine body bags in the snow.

The vision is everywhere—on billboards, television screens, windows—and she’s the only one who sees it. And the more she sees it, the more she sees. The vision is giving her clues, and soon Jules knows what she has to do. Because now she can see the face in one of the body bags, and it’s someone she knows. Someone she has been in love with for as long as she can remember.

Thoughts

I think this book looks incredible and I can't wait to get my hands on it! :D I've not actually read any books by Lisa McMann before, but I've heard her Wake Trilogy is supposed to be awesome. ^.^ As for the cover - I think it's quite cool - especially the fire in her eyes.. xD There seems to be a lot of books covers being released soon with an eye or both eyes on the front cover lately. Has anyone else noticed it? :P

Review: Forgotten by Cat Patrick

Forgotten
Title: Forgotten.
Author: Cat Patrick.
Publication Date: June 1st, 2011.
Publisher: Egmont Books.
Genres: Contemporary, Mystery, Young Adult.
Format: Paperback, 280 pages.
Source: Bought.
My Rating:
Each night when 16 year-old London Lane goes to sleep, her whole world disappears. In the morning, all that's left is a note telling her about a day she can't remember. The whole scenario doesn't exactly make high school or dating that hot guy whose name she can't seem to recall any easier. But when London starts experiencing disturbing visions she can't make sense of, she realizes it's time to learn a little more about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

Part psychological drama, part romance, and part mystery, this thought-provoking novel will inspire readers to consider the what-if's in their own lives and recognize the power they have to control their destinies.

Review

I’d been really excited about starting this novel for quite a while now, and I was not disappointed. Forgotten is a short novel, coming in at just under 300 pages. However, don’t judge it by the length, the story is heart-wrenching and moving, you won’t want to put it down!

London Lane is pretty much like every other girl her age – apart from the fact that at around 4am every morning, her mind resets and her past, and the things she’s done the day before becomes a complete blank. How does she get on with life and go to school you say? Every night before she goes to sleep, she jots down everything that’s happened that day in a journal, for her to read when she wakes. She also gets by with the help of her Mum and best friend, Jamie. During a fire drill one day at school, she meets gorgeous and handsome Luke – the new kid who’s just transferred there. As their relationship grows, everyday London has to remind herself how much she loves and adores him – even though he seems a complete stranger to her every day. Around the time that London meets Luke, her best friend, Jamie starts to go off the rails – starting a relationship with a young, married teacher – she also finds out her mum is lying to her about her past, including her father.

I loved London’s character – she was such a delight to read and really refreshing. I think she has incredible strength to continue on living the way she does. I can’t image the stress it would cause me to have to live with something like she does. Aside from having her mind wiped clean every day, London gets flashes of the future. She’ll know about an argument before it’ll happen and she’ll know what she’s going to wear to school tomorrow. Of course, there may be perks about having this ability, but there are definitely downsides to it as well. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to know my future before it happened. I wouldn’t want to walk the earth knowing when bad things would occur, knowing I was powerless to stop them. Especially if you knew when you were going to die – I think you’d end up being like a walking time-bomb.

Moving onwards to Luke’s character – I loved him. Even through all London’s weirdness, and the fact that she couldn’t remember any of their time together – Luke loved her. I think most guys would probably think she was being rude when; the day after they met, London didn’t have a clue who Luke was. Yet Luke stayed and I thought his character was so sweet. Their relationship was quite predictable at times and sort of like insta-love, however – it wasn’t over done like in a lot of different romance novels – so it didn’t really bug me all too much. I think that Luke is an important character in London’s life, helping her to piece back together her past and change her future.

As for Jamie’s character – I loved her too! She and London had such an amazing friendship. She’d constantly help London fill in the blanks from the previous day and was always there for her. Even during their argument – Jamie can’t help but worry over London and she helps her when she needs it. It must be just as painful to watch someone you care about struggling to piece together previous conversations and possibly losing important information they’ve been told. I feel like Jamie (and London’s mum), are incredible in that aspect and I’m pretty sure London wouldn’t be able to live without them in her life.

I can’t stress enough about how much I loved this book, I read it in two long sittings and only managed to put it down when exhaustion overcame me. The book flowed so smoothly between chapters and there were constant twists and turns – leaving my wondering what would happen next. The reason I gave this book 4/5 stars instead of 5/5 was because I felt the ending was quite rushed – I thought it could have gone into more depth and finished the book slightly differently, but overall this novel was incredible. Cat Patrick is an amazing writer and I wait to read her other books.

Quotes

Page Thomas, looking like she just got out of bed, approaches from the opposite direction and waves at me with what I consider to be a little too much enthusiasm. For a beat, I have no idea why she's so happy to see me. I shift my bag to my left arm so that I can cordially wave back as we pass. Then I remember. Soon she will corner me and ask me to set her up with Brad, from math. Ugh. Who am I, Cupid? - Page 22.

For a few seconds, we are quiet. Every muscle in my body is tense, in a good way; it's excruciatingly intimate. I'm lying in my bed, clutching the phone like a lifeline, hearing nothing but Luke's measured inhale and exhale, and my own quickening heartbeat.
If he were here right now, I'd kiss him. - Page 126.

'Does it ever get easier?' I ask my mom, before I open the door to the Prius. We are sitting in the drop-off area at school. My eyes are red and puffy.
'I don't know, London,' my mom says softly, placing a hand on mine. 'For me, time lessens the pain. I don't know how It'll be for you. It's new to you every day.' My mother looks tormented as she says this. I don't answer. - Page 216.

As the Baggers begin to create a new world order, Aries, Clementine, Mason and Michael will have to trust and rely on each other in order to survive.

Thoughts

I think this book looks really interesting! :) It seems like a really unique and interesting plot line as well. (: As for the cover, I kinda like it, but I kinda don't. It's interesting and cleverly done, but It's not the prettiest cover I've seen. It took me ages to realise that the girls eyes were different colours! xD Silly Tiffa. ^^; I hope some of you will add it to your TBR lists. :3
