Waiting On Wednesday: The Taking by Kimberly Derting

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Hey Book Nerds! :) Happy New Year! Even though this is 8 days late... ^^; my bad! I've been so distracted with various different things this year that I have been, once again, neglecting my poor blog. My wrap-up for December 2013 is also, once again, late this month. I'm sorry! >.> I feel like I'm apologising every time I post on here, and I hope you don't think badly of me. I'm going to try and film my December 2013 Wrap-Up today, and see if I can have it edited and uploaded by tomorrow - if not then, then hopefully Friday. :) On another note, I reached 200 YouTube subscribers the other day - and I want to take a quick moment just to thank you all for all of your support, I really appreciate it. ^.^

And FINALLY, as for my reading, I've read two books this month already! After I finished reading Stella by Helen Eve (Reviewed), I then picked up Frostbite by Richelle Mead, which is the second book in the Vampire Academy series, and oh good god, it was fantastic!! :D Everyone is right when they say that the series just keeps getting better and better. :3 As for what I'm reading right now; I've finally managed to pick up Resist by Sarah Crossan, I'm not that far into it yet, but I am enjoying it so far. So keep an eye out for that over the next week or so. Well, that's it for today - I hope you all have a great week! :D

The Taking

Title: The Taking.
Series: The Taking, #1.
Author: Kimberly Derting.
Expected Publication: April 29th, 2014.
Publisher: Harper Collins.
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult.

A flash of white light . . . and then . . . nothing.

When sixteen-year-old Kyra Agnew wakes up behind a Dumpster at the Gas ’n’ Sip, she has no memory of how she got there. With a terrible headache and a major case of déjà vu, she heads home only to discover that five years have passed . . . yet she hasn’t aged a day.

Everything else about Kyra’s old life is different. Her parents are divorced, her boyfriend, Austin, is in college and dating her best friend, and her dad has changed from an uptight neat-freak to a drunken conspiracy theorist who blames her five-year disappearance on little green men.

Confused and lost, Kyra isn’t sure how to move forward unless she uncovers the truth. With Austin gone, she turns to Tyler, Austin’s annoying kid brother, who is now seventeen and who she has a sudden undeniable attraction to. As Tyler and Kyra retrace her steps from the fateful night of her disappearance, they discover strange phenomena that no one can explain, and they begin to wonder if Kyra’s father is not as crazy as he seems. There are others like her who have been taken . . . and returned. Kyra races to find an explanation and reclaim the life she once had, but what if the life she wants back is not her own?

Thoughts

Okay, so first off I want to say that I absolutely ADORE Kimberly Derting's writing, she really is a fantastic and wonderful author. I read another one of her novels some time last year (I think), called The Body Finder and it was bloody incredible! I'm really interested to see how Kimberly will write this sort of paranormal/sci-fi book series and how it will compare to her Murder Mystery/Thriller series. :D Secondly, what a GORGEOUS cover it has! I just can't seem to stop staring at it - the effect of clouds and the colouring and text is really beautiful and so unique. It's simple, yet really effective and I just love it. :3 Anyway, what do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Waiting On Wednesday: Killer Instinct by S.E. Green

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Hey Book Nerds! :) I feel like I've been a little absent again recently, but my parents have gone away on holiday and I've had a lot to do. I've started Volunteering at one (yes, we have about 8) of my local charity shops on a Monday afternoon, and I've been seeing one of my friends quite a bit recently. So, I'm really sorry! I seem to be going through a bit of a blogger block at the moment, as I really can't think of anything new to blog about, but I'm working on it! As for my reading, I've done a LOT over the past few days. I finished reading Beautiful Disaster, (5/5 stars!) then I picked up The Forest of Hands and Teeth (4/5 stars), which was really good as well! I've now started reading my proof copy/ARC of After Eden by Helen Douglas - and I'm really enjoying it so far. :) There will be a review of it posted not long after I finish reading it, as it's being released on the 7th November. Can you believe we're already at the end of October? It's weird! Anyway, that's it for today - I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. :)

Killer Instinct

Author: S.E. Green
Expected Publication: May 6th, 2014.

She’s not evil, but she has certain... urges.

Because she might be one herself.

Lane channels her dark impulses by hunting criminals—delivering justice when the law fails. The vigilantism stops shy of murder. But with each visceral rush the line of self-control blurs. And then a young preschool teacher goes missing. Only to return... in parts.

When Lane excitedly gets involved in the hunt for “the Decapitator,” the vicious serial murderer that has come to her hometown, she gets dangerously caught up in a web of lies about her birth dad and her own dark past. And once the Decapitator contacts Lane directly, Lane knows she is no longer invisible or safe. Now she needs to use her unique talents to find the true killer’s identity before she—or someone she loves—becomes the next victim...

Thoughts

I've seen quite a few bloggers over the last week receive an ARC of this book - and I'm so jealous! This book is right up my alley; I LOVE murder mysteries and thrillers. But you already all know that. :P I just think this book looks so fantastic, and I really can't wait until it's released. I NEED it in possession, NOW! xD As for the cover; I wasn't sure such what I thought about it at first, but it's really growing on me. I love the effect of the image inside the text, but I do find it hard to read, especially as it's sideways! Anyway, what do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

It was creepy and weird and I gave it 4/5 stars! :D My 1 Year Blogoversary giveaway ended yesterday, so thank you to all of you who entered - I wish I could give you all a prize - but I just don't have the money. The winner was Sarah, and I've already contacted her and hope to be able to have her book posted soon. :) I don't have a whole lot else to say today, but I hope you're all having a great week so far. :) Talk to you guys again soon! ^.^

Thoughts

Although I already own two of Paige Harbison's books, I have yet to read them. But this book looks just as fantastic as her others, and I really want to read this one as well! :P Although I'm not a huge fan of cheating in books, and I can't understand how anyone would hook up with their best friends boyfriend, I really want to see how this book will end up. :D As for the cover, I LOVE it! The colouring is gorgeous, and the girl on the cover is really pretty - I love her lipstick colour as well! xD I also love how the font is semi-transparent, so you can still see some of the picture beneath. :) What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Thoughts

I only heard about this book a few days via Maji Bookshelf's YouTube channel, and I can't believe I hadn't beforehand! This looks like a really fantastic book, I love the whole amnesia aspects in books. (Not in real life though...) I've not heard of Natalie Richards before, but I'm really eager to read her writing and see what she does with the story! :) As for the cover; I like it, but it's not amazing. I think it's a little boring, but it looks like it'll relate to the story - which is good! What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Waiting On Wednesday: Nearly Gone by Elle Cosimano

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Hey Book Nerds! :D How are you all doing today? I've been really enjoying all of the books I've been reading recently, and finished Ink by Amanda Sun the other day. It was a fantastic book and my review will probably be posted tomorrow! :D I'm currently reading the third book in the Soul Screamers series, My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent and I love it so far. I think the series is really fantastic, and if you've not read the first book, you really need too! Anyway, It's been a few weeks since I posted a Waiting On Wednesday post, mainly because I've just not been waiting on much at all. However, recently I've been adding a lot of books that are being released next year to my TBR pile on Good Reads. So I thought it was time to start sharing these again. :3 So, that's it for today, talk again soon. ^.^

Nearly Gone

Author: Elle Cosimano.
Expected Publication: March 25th, 2014.
Publisher: Kathy Dawson Books.
Genres: Mystery, Paranormal, Young Adult.

Nearly Boswell knows how to keep secrets. Living in a DC trailer park, she knows better than to share anything that would make her a target with her classmates. Like her mother's job as an exotic dancer, her obsession with the personal ads, and especially the emotions she can taste when she brushes against someone's skin.

But when a serial killer goes on a killing spree and starts attacking students, leaving cryptic ads in the newspaper that only Nearly can decipher, she confides in the one person she shouldn't trust: the new guy at school—a reformed bad boy working undercover for the police, doing surveillance. . . on her. Nearly might be the one person who can put all the clues together, and if she doesn't figure it all out soon—she'll be next.

Thoughts

Okay, HOLY COW! This looks like an absolutely fantastic book! As I've said countless times before, I'm a huge sucker for murder mystery books, or just mystery books in general - so this one really looks like it'll be incredible. :) As for the cover, I really like it! It's so simple, and I love the font and the close up shot of her mouth and wet hair. Although I'm not really sure what the significance of the numbers in the word 'Nearly' is, I'm sure once I read it I'll find out though! :D What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Snyder and also over the next week days I'll be posting my exclusive interview with Chicken House Publishing! :D I'm currently reading This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summer, and I'm not that far into it - but I'm really not sure what I think of it so far. o_O The writing's a bit strange and different from what I expected - but I do love me some Zombies. :P Anyway, that's it for today, talk to you guys again soon! :D

Thoughts

My gosh, I am SO excited for the release of this book - I can't even begin to explain how much I want to read it! I've read James Dawson's other novel, Hollow Pike and I absolutely adored everything about it - it's one of my favourite books. James’s writing is amazing and I can't wait to read more from him! I'm not that keen on the cover for this book; it's really boring compared to his other book cover, but oh well. :) (I do like the font though) I can't believe it comes out tomorrow! It's such a shame I can't order it yet as I don't have the money to pay full price for it at the moment. Hopefully soon I will though! What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Hey Book Nerds! :D Sorry there was no Top Ten Tuesday post yesterday, I just didn't really fancy doing this week’s one, plus, the weather in the UK has been so hot that I've barely been able to think. It's lovely to have sunny weather of course; we're just not used to this type of weather. xD Most of us Brits are all pale and pasty! I remember reading the trilogy YEARS ago, when I was about 13 or 14, but I can barely remember anything, so I'm looking forward to finishing it. ^.^ That's it for today - I hope you've all had a great week so far! :D

Thoughts

I think this book looks really fantastic! I really love mystery novels of sorts - and this one looks really good. I think I have an idea of what might have happened to the main character at the party, but I'll keep that to myself for now. :P As for the cover, I kind of like it, but I kind of don't. I don't really see what it's got to do with the book, but we'll have to see! The effect of it is nice though. :P What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

This year has been going so fast! :P I've not got a whole lot to say today, apart from the fact that I'm LOVING The Eternity Cure. I think I'm nearly half way through, and it's so amazing. :) Julie Kagawa's writing is flawless - I love it so much. ^.^ So once I've finished reading it, keep an eye out for the review. ^.^ That's it for today, I hope you're all having a great week so far! :D

I really don't know what to say about this book apart from WOW! This book looks so friggin' fantastic! WHY do we have to wait until September? It seems so far away.. "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Hey Book Nerds! :D How are you all doing? I have a question for you guys, I've been debating about picking up a copy of Game of Thrones, but the synopsis of the book doesn't really appeal to me. I know it's supposed to be really good, so should I just pick it up and give it a chance or not? :) I really can't decide. xD I've not got a whole lot else to say today, except I starting reading the second book in the Soul Screamers series, My Soul To Save, by Rachel Vincent yesterday and I'm loving it so far. The first book, My Soul To Take was one of my favourite reads from last year. Hopefully this one will be just as good. :) I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

I'm so excited for the release of this book! I love books like this, because you can never tell what kind of direction they're going to go. :3 As for the cover, I think it's absolutely gorgeous! :D I love the fonts and blurred background effect. It's so pretty. ^.^ What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Hey Book Nerds! :D I'm so tired today it's unbelievable! My new blog layout will be up very shortly, as long as everything goes according to plan. I've been working on the coding for a couple of weeks now, and everything that could have gone wrong - went wrong. xD Tomorrow my May 2013 Wrap-Up will be posted - so don't forget to check back then for that. Lastly, I finished reading Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick last night and I loved it! The ending killed me though, and I gave it 4/5 stars. I know I reviewed the first book, Hush, Hush, but I doubt I'll review Crescendo. I hope you're all having a great week so far.

Thoughts

I'm really looking forward to this one, it looks so good! I love psychological thrillers; they're one of my favourite genres to read about. :) WHY do I have to wait until NOVEMBER though?! That really sucks! D: As for the cover, I think it's really cool. I love how simple it is, and the typography is amazing. :) What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Hey Book Nerds! :D How are you all doing today? :) I'm doing well. :) I continued reading more of Partials last night, and I'm over 100 pages in and I love it! I know I said I wasn't sure about it yesterday, but I think it was just a bit of a slow start and it's really gotten going now. ^.^ I'm so eager to see what'll happen next. I'm also still working hard on my new coding and layout for the blog, it's taking much longer than I expected. My coding skills are a little rusty and not as good as they were five or six years ago. xD However, I'm not letting that deter me and I'm powering through! :D That's it for today - I hope you all have a great day. ^.^

Thoughts

*Squeals like a little kid on Christmas Day* I'm SO, SO, SO excited about the release of this book! :O I've been seeing it around on peoples blogs and everything for months and months now, but I'm only just now getting round to featuring it on mine. Even though the synopsis doesn't give much away - I think it looks like an incredible book. :D I WANT IT NOW! D: As you all probably know by now, I'm a huge fan of thriller/mystery YA novels - they're so fun to read. ^.^ As for the cover; I do like it, but I'm not that keen on the white dots all over it, if the background didn't have them on, I think it'd look perfect. Oh well, we can't everything. :P What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

Hey Book Nerds! ^.^ How are you all doing today? :) I'm doing well, thanks! :P I'm nearly half way through reading Night School at the moment, and I'm really loving it so far - it's SO good! :) As I said yesterday, I'm not all that keen on the main character, Allie - she's just a bit too immature for my liking - but everything else is just awesome. :3 Lastly, I'd like to say - I've reached 100+ followers! :D I'll be holding my giveaway, hopefully, on Saturday - so don't forget to check that out and enter if you want. ^.^ I hope you're all having a great week so far.

Conjured

Title: Conjured.
Author: Sarah Beth Durst.
Expected Publication: April 29th, 2014.
Publisher: Harper Collins.
Genres: Paranormal, Fantasy, Young Adult.

Eve has a new home, a new face, and a new name—but no memories of her past. She’s been told that she's in a witness protection program. That she escaped a dangerous magic-wielding serial killer who still hunts her. The only thing she knows for sure is that there is something horrifying in her memories the people hiding her want to access—and there is nothing they won’t say—or do—to her to get her to remember.

At night she dreams of a tattered carnival tent and buttons being sewn into her skin. But during the day, she shelves books at the local library, trying to not let anyone know that she can do things—things like change the color of her eyes or walk through walls. When she does use her strange powers, she blacks out and is drawn into terrifying visions, returning to find that days or weeks have passed—and she’s lost all short-term memories. Eve must find out who and what she really is before the killer finds her—but the truth may be more dangerous than anyone could have ever imagined.

EEEK! This book so absolutely amazing! I saw it on someone else's Waiting On Wednesday post last week (I'm really sorry I can't remember who!), and I completely fell in love with it. WHY do all the amazing looking books have to take so long to be released? It's really not fair... ;_; As for the cover, I think it's really cool. I love the simplicity of it and the typography is gorgeous. :3 What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

I'm just under half way through it, and it's been pretty good. ^.^ Lastly, I want to say; I'm nearly at 100 followers, guys! I'm not sure really how to count how many I've really got, seeing as some of my Bloglovin' followers may also be GFC followers. So I'm just going to wing it once I get a few more followers. Once I do, I'll be holding a giveaway! :D I want you guy’s opinion; would you rather win a copy of Pretty Girl Thirteen by Liz Coley or a copy of The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa? Let me know!

Oh my gosh! The synopsis of this book doesn't give a whole lot away - but I think it looks absolutely incredible! I love murder-mysteries; they're such an awesome genre to read. I'm so excited for this book to be released, and I want to also read Jennifer's debut novel as well. :) It's such a shame that the release date is so far away! D: As for the cover, I think it's awesome. :P I love how the girls face isn't showing, and I think the font works really well with the rest of the cover. :3 What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^

*Squeals like a little girl* This book looks SO amazing! The synopsis doesn't give a whole lot of information away, which makes it look even more amazing. The cover is also incredible - everything about this book is just WOW! :D I can't believe we have to wait until October for its release though, that really sucks. D: I was searching through my Good Reads, and I released that loads of my friends/people I follow on there have added it to their TBR lists - so it seems it's really popular! Hopefully it'll live up the expectations. ^.^ What do you guys think of the looks of this book, have you heard of it before? :) Let me know! ^.^
